Sarcastic, huh? Look at it this way…at least WalMart employes a lot of people, even if a lot of its jobs are part-time. In this economy, part-time is better than no-time. And I have little sympathy for people working in fast-food places wanting $15/hr. I have a college education (not just a GED) and worked for $12.44/hr. at a county Addictions and Mental Health Agency. Now, which is more important…feeding strangers or making a significant difference in the lives of people who are suffering?

“Je n’ai fait celle-ci plus longue que parce que n’ai pas eu le loisir de la faire plus courte” – Blaise Pascal.(Sorry this letter wasn’t shorter, but I didn’t have time.)To agrestic, maybe you should take the time…

Minimum wage jobs historically, are entry level. At that level, the new kid in the work force learns the value of good work habits. The new kid also gets an idea of what sort of work/career suits them. Any adult who expects to make a living in an entry level job is a fool. My entry level jobs were selling newspapers on the street, cutting ’cots, a paper route and eventually, the US Navy. Every job convinced me there had to be something better. As an adult, when a job turned sour, I looked for something better & found it.

Well done, dzw3030. Copied and pasted from the Walmart “Corporate Excuses for Bad Behavior” manual. The prob with WM is they keep you at entry level pay forever, give you to few hours to qualify for benefits and tell you to apply for food stamps to help feed your family. Walmart is a bad neighbor no matter where it goes and blind people like you will keep it that way.

You mustn’t let Agrestic’s style corrupt you.

…and the person who poured a bucket of E. coli down the well gets indignant when someone else puts a bit of chlorine down after it.

When the Really big box WalMart showed up here, there was a big fanfare, etc. A funny thing happened, though…their competitors remained just that…competition. One local Latino supermarket was forced to close…but lo, and behold, it was back in business after about a year and a half… WalMart had to cut employees and products for sale. It couldn’t compete against the supermarkets that were already here. A lot of brand loyalty around here… ;)

In any case, no one commented on the old guy’s statement that clearly refers to Satan’s Superstore building a big box close to Mayan ruins.
