I don’t know how old Corky is, but Skeezix must be around 90. Should he really be off on a wild goose chase ? And aren’t these two supposed to be staying with Walt right now ?
Walt was spiked once by Ty Cobb on a close play at third, Cobb trying to stretch a two-out double into a triple. Walt, usually a gentle giant, shoved the Georgia Peach, who tumbled halfway to the pitcher’s mound. Both players had to be restrained by teammates. Lucky for Cobb. The umpires conferred, and ruled Cobb safe. He was stranded at third when the next batter popped out to Walt.
Axe - That is fantastic! I didn’t know about all this. I barely remember GA from my childhood in the 50’s and didn’t know that Walt had played professional ball. Where do I find reprints?
That would be so cool to have a copy of that baseball card with Walt on it. I wonder if Mr. Scancarelli would consider having a bunch created for those of us that sent him a SASE like he did with the Wallet Family Tree back about twenty-something years ago.
I was just having fun spinning yarns! I don’t know if any of Walt’s baseball years are recorded in the strip. The baseball card inspired me to extrapolate an untold episode from Walt’s career. But I’m happy if you enjoyed it. I’d like to hear any that you folks come up with!

Wow, axe. I missed that, it’s fun to hear about Walt’s baseball adventures. I bet that card is in the box of keepsakes Gertie wouldn’t throw out.

Uh, but odd timing for Corky’s remark.

“Dad’s on his deathbed. Hey, let’s go find that rare old baseball card of his, sell it and split the money!”

No slight about it wh.
If I remember correctly, (and if I don’t, someone will let me know), isn’t “deathbed” a bit premature?
Wasn’t there a jump to conclusion prompting the phone call?
See March 23.

Luckily Walt has been sedated and can’t hear any of this. Otherwise he might join in the conversation about the glory days.

They can’t wait for their inheritance? If Walt can hear them, he should change his will.

Walt played a lot of golf. When will the golf jokes start?
