It always seemed odd to me that the ultra-righteous Taliban makes so much of its money with opium trade.

The Taliban were suppressing Opium production.

Once, yes. Now supposedly they are tapping into it as a source of easy (and hard to trace) funds.

Grow your own legalised heroin and their illicit funding disappears overnight. Legal opiate production already exists in quite a few countries for products like morphine, just expand these programmes.

Church, they did draw the line on it, and iirc weren’t shy on killing people about it awhile back. Islam isn’t very keen on any intoxication, if I remember correctly, and they had banned lesser threats to it when they were in power. Now they are short on cash, so they make compromises.

C’mon now, Doc—buying product to get high is a global market, my man. So is weapons trading.

I just find it interesting where that illegal heroin ends up- but everyone else is the “bad guy”.

Then there’s that peace and brotherhood in Northern Ireland, the love between Catholics and Protestants, and the over love between north and south in the 1860’s. That “attacking their own” argument is worn too thin. Islam, like Christianity is not “united under one banner”- well there are over 38,000 “Christian” denominations who don’t get along.

We must recognize that WE are fighting on THEIR land. We’ve not done well ourselves, and blowing up “critical military targets”- like well schools and wedding parties- Americans might “see the light”. Well, no, not likely.

Recent developments HAVE sought to separate “bad guy” targets from the civilians. The “right wing- kill ‘em all” clan is upset by this- they have no place talking about “attacking their own”.

Sorry doc, but I find “rag head”, like “Gook”, “Dink”, “Jap”, or “Kraut” offensive- leave those to the righties who’ve never served. It’s always easy to spot the ones who’ve never been in real combat- they’re the most hateful, and hate-filled.
