Good thing Cassie just happened to leave a clue to her plans and whereabouts in her backpack which she just happened to leave where Steve could find it.
And, nice surprise awaiting her parents upon their return home…
Cassie won’t have time for any statements to the cops. She will have just enough time to make it to the game. But she won’t play. Mimi will be so pissed at Gil for missing most of the game and she will take it out on Cassie. What a way to end your senior year!
P1 - Gil is so powerful he can make charges against “criminals”? How about Gil getting charged with unlawful entry? And I still can’t figure out how Gil knew they were at pizza boy’s house and how he knew where it was.
P3 - The game is coming to a great ending, and people in the stands are not even paying attention! And why does every gym in their conference feature large picture windows?
No problem, replace your point guard with one of your taller players who has not played that position and pull off the upset. I still say they lose though, they will miss at the buzzer, or the other team will score at the buzzer and it will be a great moral victory, but no championship.
First, Steve did not trespass. Ray and/or Cassie invited him in. While his comment about Ray may have been uncalled for, it certainly wasn’t actionable.
Ray, on the other hand, did not have the unfettered right, even in his own apartment, to strike a guest on the premises. It isn’t as if he caught Steve assaulting Cassie (although Steve was probably thinking about it) or even that Steve refused to leave after being asked to do so. As Gil suggests, Ray could be charged with battery, but only if Steve wanted to press charges, which Steve probably won’t do if he ever wants to eat at the pizza joint again without worrying if there’s something besides onions and sausage on his pizza!
That leaves us with Gil. On the one hand, he wasn’t invited in to Ray’s apartment by Ray or Cassie (or Steve for that matter) before putting Ray on the floor. On the other hand, if Ray’s door had been left open and Gil saw Ray sucker-punch Steve, Gil probably was justified legally in entering the premises to stop Ray from using Steve to mop up the floor. In addition, as we all know, Gil is an honorary detective for the Milford P.D., so its not like they are going to cuff Gil even if Ray tries to press charges. The Chief (I too am surprised he is working the beat) would probably just tell Ray to cool it or they may just find a stash of pot in his bedroom. Or maybe the patrolman will just beat Ray over the head with his flashlight (only visible in P4).
The real question for all of us to ponder is what is the message we are supposed to take out of all this. Something to do with Cassie? Steve? Mimi? Ray? Mr. Kessler?
I would love to see a wrap-up strip for this story-line that involved Gil, Mimi, Ray and Cassie all enjoying a laugh and a skinny-dip together in Cassie’s parents’ hot tub, perhaps with her parents walking in just as Gil put on his snorkel mask.
What? Ray hit a guy for insulting him in his own place but he’s not a friend of the police chief so he’ll get screwed. In the long run going to jail will be a good thing for Ray. It will save him from marrying Cassie. I bet he wakes up in his cell tomorrow morning and says, “What was I thinking? Thanks Coach Thorp!”
PizzaBoy Ray-Ray must not be from Milford or he was the student that hung out in the second floor boys john , cut gym class or was smoking under the bleachers. Surprised we never heard about him.
AsstDA, wrap-up strip? This is Gil Thorp we’re talking about here! The wrap-up to all this will be Gil presenting the infield starting lineup. I do like the hot tub idea, but I think Mr. Kessler should be involved somehow.

This strip sequence has all been just a dream, when Steve wakes up Milford will be champion and Cassie the MVP.
P2 looks like a dream in Steves head empty, except for girl bball players.
Are the pitchers running laps in the outfield up yet?

P3 – the game’s turning into a barn-burner, but that crowd looks about as disinterested as you can get.

Steve’s dreams probably all are about girl bball players.

Lorene Morales makes her 09-10 debut in the championship game! Wotta way to break in!
Agree on the crowd in P3: One guy is whispering to another, “Meet you at Carbone’s Cave after the game?”

Gil’s been rehearsing that “daily double” line for years now. He NAILED it!

Assault and battery? By the Gilfather maybe.
In the meantime the emasculated Steve has slunk off, thrown himself on Cassie’s bed and is crying into her pillow.

Must be a slow day in Milford when the Chief of Police responds to a domestic call. Good to see Starsky and Hutch back in uniform.
