Ryan, I may just be too “out of touch,” but this has perplexed me ever since I have started to read your WONDERFUL Dinosaur Comics about a month ago….. whenever you post something in the comments, it always has this alt = “stuff you say” design to the comment. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Like today (above) you wrote alt = “:(”. I get the emoticon of the sad face. But, what is the significance of the alt = " " items in your comments? “alt” can stand for the alternative key on the keyboard, and “=” is of course equal. So, I tried to think of your comments as meaning….. This is an alternative expression of what I was saying in today’s comic. But, that doesn’t usually seem to fit in many of the comments. So, any help, hints, or explanation you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
I just checked his site, thanks for the alt tip on the mobile site, Ryan. I’d been typing out the alt text for mobile users who couldn’t figure out how to see it, now I don’t have to. The header for today’s (on his site) is “long story short: everyone you’ve ever loved evolved to breathe bacteria farts”. And he is particularly proud of today’s alt text, PipeTobacco, check it out.
The “alt=” is the alt text for the image in the original publication of the comic. If you were to hover over the image on Ryan’s site, you’d see that “:(” pop up in a little text box.
Oh, and also we are missing the other easter egg from the original. This one, for instance, has “it’s probably best not to overthink why t-rex would be doing laundry” in the contact subject.
