I wouldn’t go with an e-reader. Not a kindle, because the number of times you can download a book is limited, which means if it fails or is lost or stolen, you might not be able to relplace all your books without having to pay for them a second time. Not an iPad, because if the battery fails, you have to replace the whole unit (and lose alll your applications in the process).
