Got my hard bound Dick Tracy tome the other day that covers the strips that include Flattop, Jr.! It was the first continuity I ever read in the comics – I was 8 – and blew my young mind. It’s still the best storyline of the 50s IMHO and one of the best Gould ever wrote. So, it’s nice to see the Tracy link in today’s strip. Thanks, Dan!
Nice tribute to Chester Gould, whose Dick Tracy debuted 83 years ago this past Saturday. Mr. Thompson does it in typically clever fashion—prominent but not intrusive.
Today’s strip provides a nice overview of Dan Thompson’s comic arsenal: TNT’s expression in Panel One; the story heads and Chester Gould’s cameo in Panel Two; and Breezy’s delivery of the punchline in Panel Three.
Sometimes DT’s adventure/comedy strip delivers more laughs in a single day than most gag strips deliver in a week.

Isn’t it amazing what Cobra would do to interrupt Rip’s romance with Breezy?

I too am looking forward to a Tracy link with a Cobra twist… seems the Highwayman and spur have been busy to rack up $100m…
