He doesn’t have all night to hear it.
My mother (1953-2004) used to sing to my older borther and I –when we were little– some German lullaby.

She loves you a lot Nelson
Good thing the song wasn’t written using the metric system. The rhymes would have been killers.
My Mom used to sing that….. :-)
Hurry Nelson, fall asleep!
I was fortununately spared having to hear that one.
Smart comeback, Nelson.
The hug around the neck thing, was this meant for those scary story campfire nights?
@CarolinaGirls
my mom sang it to my sisters and I almost every night when we were young. I miss her so much
more than a thousand bushels
“Hug around the neck, and a barrel and a heap Barrel and a heap and I’m talkin’ in my sleep About you … about you.”
Nelly55 &rotts, I’m with you. Now I sing this to my granddaughter. Imiss my mom bushells, barrels and heaps.
Thanks Brian Crain for the nice memory
Pretend to drift off to sleep…when Opal goes to kiss you good night..JUMP UP and say April Fools…….
Does that mean 4 Gregory Pecks make a bushel?
My mom sings this to my girls (I don’t remember her singing it to me oddly enough), and she’s coming to visit today, so this is great timing. :-)
Exact measurement is irrelevant. Context tells you it’s a bit more than a bunch.
I used to sing “You Are My Sunshine” to my boys!
Did she pick a peck of pickled peppers? (Try typing THAT three times!)
My mom used to sing it to me, too. She died in October. I never did know how much a peck was, although our town’s name was Peck. We did pick peaches by the bushel, so I had a pretty good idea of how much a bushel was. Thanks for the memories, Brian.
1 Peck equals 2 gallons (dry) and 1 bushel equal 8 gallons (dry). So it takes 4 pecks to make a bushel.
