I also thought Opal was talking about their anniversary and was starting to wonder how in the world they had a grandson as old as Nelson. As usual, Opal’s on the ball and Earl is planet hopping.

It’s a shame GoComics only takes us back 7 years, I’d love to see how it all began.

Congratulations Brian, this strip is one of my favourites.

The archive at Comics.com take the viewer back 10 years but not all the way to the beginning. That was the best I could find.

I agree with the commentators Mr.Crane if you are reading what has been said above would you please post the first strip so everyone can see. I didn’t know Pickles, which is very funny has been going so long our local paper didn’t pick this up until I’m guess 5 years ago.

At first I didn’t know what Opal is talking about. But happily I do now. Happy 20 years to this wonderful strip and may the stituations keep coming for the laughter we read. Happy 20 anniversary to this wonderful strip.

yeah, I found the same as windygirl. It actually is a hair joke! But after the strip had been going on for a decade, and it was a temporary thing. A week later, he had his regular hair back. http://comics.com/pickles/2000-01-01/

Before my husband of 52 years died we always read the paper as we had our morning coffee. We always knew when the other was reading Pickles - usually a laugh or a “Oh, wait til you read today’s!”. Now I read it online and always wish I could share it with him. Congrats Brian - you make a lot of people happy each day.

I’m a relative newcomer to Pickles in the sense that I’d only found it online! But my husband and I love it as much as all the posters above! In fact, I’ve said before that I think our house is bugged by Brian Crane!

A collection of the first 20 years would be awesome and I would buy it, too! Any publishers out there reading this should get a hint!

    Congratulations!

I knew it couldn’t be the Pickle’s anniversary because in the book “Pickles,” they celebrated their 50th.

Your strip is one of the most consistently funny strips I’ve read for many years, if not THE most, these days. And always so charmingly, appealingly drawn (your rare dedication to craft is inspirational). Congratulations indeed - I hope to meet the man behind the strip someday.

Reminds me of the final scene of season 1 of “My Name Earl”. Catalina appears to be chewing Joy out in Spanish when she is actually thanking the television viewers for watching and hopes to see them next season.
