Just to be the DA here I would guess that Finkle had ran home to call for backup; possibly the police/sheriff but more than likely the National Guard. (DA=Devil’s Advocate)

As usual, those who indulge in a lot of bluster almost never do anything to back it up, in contrast to someone like Rip, who will actually get the job done. Not that I would be that brave, but at least I admit it and would never pretend otherwise.
