Two people see a newspaper whose headlines include the Ebola outbreak and a prediction that the war with ISIL will last thirty years. Man: Halloween cam early.
@tomWhy save the Senate? Let them go down with the burning House; it will reduce lobbying mosquito and be ready for re-population by the next election.
WW II was indeed a real threat, and a total of six, just six, Amricans were killed on the U.S. mainland, just north of Bly, Oregon, by a Japanese balloon bomb.
Polio was brought to an end as an epidemic, because vaccines were developed. Ebola isn’t there yet, neither are hundreds, if not thousands, of potentilaly MORE deadly viruses as we keep seeing them mutate. Even flu vaccine must be altered every year to keep up with the EXPECTED strain, not necessarily the one that shows up.
We’ve already been fighting, and bombing, in Iraq, for 23 years! ’91 was just the start, and thousands died to get ONE MAN out of the way. Same for Afghanistan.
A large part of that real problem IS American nationalism, masquerading as “exceptionalism” to a bunch of egocentric, mostly but not all, “right-wingers”. Those who find no fault whatever with the “unitary presidency” of “W” and Cheney, but can’t stand Obama, not that he hasn’t made some mistakes, are trapped in their own masquerade, portraying themselves as “patriots”. But in reality, they’re just wearing a new set of sheets.

It is human nature to dwell on the things you want to and to ignore the things you don’t.
