I believe there has been an alien abduction. Surely our favorite group of explorers would dial up NatGeo or Discovery and watch a video of hiking and climbing. Then they could eat the pizza on the way up and the brats on the way down. All while sitting on a soon-to-be-broken sofa. With a bathroom close by so Jerry can treat them to the sounds and aromas on nature.
They’re not gonna hike, 2Old…They’re gonna drive (or ride) all the way to the top, and eat at McDonald’s, as the young store clerk intimated..
They’ll be wearing their heavy packs, though, in the car… packs full of all the food they just bought in panel one.
So by the time they drive back down, they’ll be utterly exhausted, from that effort…and ravenous… especially Dale, cos he could only afford one quarter-pounder with cheese, and a medium fries… and neither Burl nor Jerry could spare a few bucks.
So they’ll stop at a roadside park and eat all the food in their packs, before they go home to their dinners.
I’m so sorry, it was late and I wasn’t thinking. Of Couse they wouldn’t hike a mile. Unless there was free food in the end, and even then the whining and crying would put everyone else off their food so more for our intrepid “athletes”.I’ll just sit here in the corner and sip the whiskey laced BB that Pipe so kindly gave me.
When I worked as a US Park Ranger in the mid-80’s we saw a lot of folks just this even then. Nice to see they haven’t died out…….(sarcasm switch is on.)

How much do you bet they poop out a mile into the hike, eat all the snacks, and hitch a ride back down to the car?

How disappointing will it be when they get to the top and find a Burger King instead of MD??
Those folks will believe anything when it comes to food, won’t they??

Now you all don’t forget to welcome Edna with a kiss when you get to the top.

I guess that triangle is bugging Jerry in panel 2, but I think I see glasses in the trees of panel 1.
