STANLEY KUBRICK ANSWERS A QUESTION Interviewer: If life is so purposeless, do you feel it’s worth living? Stanley Kubrick: Yes, for those who manage somehow to cope with our mortality. Stanley Kubrick: The very meaninglessness of life forces man to create his own meaning. Children, of course, began life with an untarnished sense of wonder… A capacity to experience total joy at something… …as simple as the greenness of a leaf. But as they grow older…. …the awareness of death and decay begins to impinge on their consciousness… ONCOLOGY DEPARTMENT …and subtly erode their JOIE DE VIVRE, their idealism… …and their assumption of immortality. As a child matures, he sees death and pain everywhere about him… HAL DAVIS 1968-2014 BELOVED HUSBAND AND FATHER …and begins to lose faith in the ultimate goodness of man. Men’s Clothing for Charity Shoes for Charity Hal’s Old Stuff But if he’s reasonably strong and lucky… …he can emerge from this twilight of the soul… …into a rebirth of life’s elan. THE SHINING A STANLEY KUBRICK FILM Both because of and in spite of his awareness of the meaninglessness of life, he can forge a fresh sense of purpose and affirmation. The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent. @Zen PencilsA worthy tribute to a master of cinema, Gavin-sama. Stan was THE MAN. People who claim to know him can just not understand how deep he was…until they knew that it was him and not Spielberg who was the heart of “A.I.”: everybody thinks the tender touch of “A.I.” was Spielberg, but it was all Stanley.

Species? Baloney. Life and death are nothing. Less than nothing. But’s they’re the phenomenon you have at the moment, which makes them everything, so do them well.

@MeGoNow Life and death are nothing only in the context of the species.

One of my favorite lines is from an Aerosmith song. Its at the end of the album“To all of you out there, wherever you are, remember, the light at the end of the tunnel….may be you!”Amazing…….even the title has meaning. When it is the darkest you have ever seen always look to yourself……there is light.

The light is supplied; it’s up to us to uncover it and figure out how to shine it. The light will always remain no thing, but we can choose to let it seem something. “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.” Thank you, Beatles. Good strip Gavin.
