Doctor Mel, there are those of us who are aware that Earth is a pretty pathetic place to hang out, but it’s hard to gather enough proof of this to convince anyone else. Thanks for providing this service for us! What else do you have to put things into further perspective?

Mauna Kea is Earth’s tallest mountain, about 14,000 feet taller than Everest. People think Everest is taller because it’s sitting on a table.

A 16 mile high mountain? Think of the strip-mining opportunities!!

It is NOT 3 times taller than Everest. It is almost 3 times AS TALL AS Everest. There is a difference, for those of you who are innumerate.

I read somewhere that actually the tallest mountain on Earth is Mauna Kea in Hawaii. The rest is underwater. Mt. Everest is tallest above sea level.
