Lucy: ? I wonder what this is all abou... Noise: Shuffle shuffle shuffle. Bzzzzap! Danae: All hail the Queen of Static Electricity! Lucy: Oh... of course...
rob, guess you never slid off the vinyl seat of a car in florida.
touch the door and ZAP! this does have it’s draw backs. don’t brace yourself on a wall with your hand over a light switch. it’ll drop you to the floor. who’ laughing now?
I know static electricity in a heated house in Wisconsin on a rainy day is very unpleasant. A heated house lowers humidity, and from my experience, it’s a lot more of an electrical jolt than making hair stand up, or maybe not because the jolt might bring the hair follicles to attention.
Rainy outside, warm - and dry! - inside, works. If you get a static zap outside in the rain, you may be on the verge of a lightning strike - BAM!
We always put the spacecraft electronics away when the RH gets less than 30%, and start a humidifier or do a sloppy-mop of the floor. Or both. You don’t want that partially damaged zapped junction to finally give up, halfway to Mars!

The only problem with this story line is that static electricity is a problem on cold, dry days, not rainy days.

I don’t see it happening. You do not get static electricity when it is raining. Impossible……it don’t happen.

I believe if you consult “Cartoon Physics” Vol 3 Chap 4, you will find that anything is possible in comics.

One only has static in a dry and low humidity environment.

@Lewreader, I believe that rule is “Anything is possible in cartoon physics–as long as it’s funny.” See Who Killed Roger Rabbit:
Eddie Valiant: You mean you could’ve taken your hand out of that cuff at any time? Roger Rabbit: No, not at any time, only when it was funny.

This cartoonist is verygood in my opinion. The penmanship is above reproach and the store telling is very funny. KUDOS to the creator of this cartoon.

Good to know that static electricity is impossible on a rainy day. I won’t worry about lightning when it is raining anymore.
Static electricity is possible anytime, depends on materials and friction applied.

1 wasn’t that what Doc Frankenstein did to start her? 2 and I can’t wait to see how Victoria handles this!
