I get it. He’s a conductor who went home to the farm for Halloween and dressed up as an engineer to hand out candy.
He would tap his wand 3 times and then yell, “All Aboard”; it was unique amongst the conductors.
Bernstein did NOT have a beard. See above photos.

My mother asked what I wanted to be. When I said conductor she asked, “Electrical or streetcar?” Yes, that was a long time ago.
