If he thinks November is too cold, wait until he sees what it’s like at the end of December.

I believe the rise in injuries is directly related to the invention of social media, media games and the economy. Used to be a kid woke up, ate breakfast and out the door for a day of running, climbing trees, riding bikes and playing football/baseball with the other kids in the neighborhood. Now both parents must work to support their families and when kids are able to be at home they are sitting in a chair using some kind of electronic device and barely moving so when they do try to be active their bodies are not conditioned to take the use thus injuries.

Not as bad as World Series games in November because the season’s dragged out too much.

Are you complaining that any safety measure or concern is too much? I would hazard a guess that it is possible to both have fun and to do so with some attempt to address real health and safety concerns.

Actually, in my Dad’s hometown there were two “big time rivalry” high school football games traditionally played on Thanksgiving. One (in the morning) typically filled the high school stadium. The second (in the afternoon) typically filled much of the local college stadium. Attendance was sometimes as high as 25,000 people. I remember once when both high schools were ranked #1 in their respective states. The game was a madhouse, with media coming from everywhere. The score ended up 7-6. With the final play being a blocked field goal. Big, BIG rivalry.
