This is what my MIL would do! She would buy day(s) old cake at Safeway, freeze it for 6 months and serve everyone one slice. The rest was for them for the next week. It was ok just to get the one slice, it was dry, hard, and tasted like the freezer.
I understand that Burl/Joy are believers in the “I want all of mine and most of yours right now!” school of greed, but if they were a little more sophisticated and patient, they could get even more. For example if they followed the example of airlines and banks, they could slice the cake thinner and just call it bigger and they could impose a serving fee on each slice, all the while dividing the cake up into four sections, not three. e.g. Yours, mine, ours and a reserve, which is, of course, ours. The reserve would at all times contain the largest piece of icing decoration.
Actually, the cake started out a lot bigger. They’ve learned how to carve it so that the angles are right to let them eat the center and put the outside back together as if it was all of a smaller cake. Of course, they will still keep one third of the end product for themselves, too. It breaks their hearts that they haven’t yet figured out how to accomplish this in a way that lets them eat the iced parts themselves.
Has anyone else noticed a large number of new “pop-up” ads lately? Attached to all of them is a little tag that says “App enabled advertising from GoComics.” Are we going to have to quit this site to get away from all of this? Ideas?
