I do have to give my cat credit: he likes to twist and relax on his back rather that the usual âmeatloafâ position (flat on floor, front and back legs tucked underneath). If he wants a belly skritch, heâll allow it, but if heâs not in the mood, Iâll get a hand push-away with one back leg. I think he understands the word âOw!â; if I say that whilst trapped, he will retract, allowing me a chance to retreat and live without a Band-aid for another day.
I have a 10 inch scar from side of elbow to back of wrist from an unexpected Clampdown. I had exactly .2 seconds warning. He was a really sweet kitty⊠âtil he wasnât.
A cat lying on its back isnât usually asking for a tummy rub. Thus they tend to go off sooner or later when you, to their perception, engage in trying to rip open their guts.

Oh, they have a countdown. You just have to know how to read it. (My wife needs the one depicted here.)

I have scars. Clampdown is random, and on random parts. You never know, and yet we try! Love knows no reason.
