Looks like an awful lot of parts on the ground for an oil change. Just because I’m the sort that I am, I’d get some small extra thing from the garage and put it in the pile of parts for Burl to reinstall. Then enjoy the show while he tries to figure out where it goes.
They will indeed end up at the dealership. That car was obviously so worn out and used up (they’re very environmentally conscious) that the parts won’t even fit back where they came from. Good thing he discovered that before it caused an accident. He’s her hero. More so for his technical savey. He knows oils goes inside the engine. And he can see that there are many ways that may be opened to the inside of the engine. Perfectionist that he is, it’s just a matter of finding the best way in.
Now, after inflating the price by 30%, the salesman will seal the deal with them by getting the sales manager to agree to 0% financing for five years. They have a high regard for that favored dealer. When other places lack imagination and customer care, he always seems to be able to find them very cheap financing. It must be the knowledge that he’s in competition with them that causes other dealers to get that look of dismay when they see the Penny’s credit history appear on their screen. They know there’s a genius out that whom they just can’t top. He’ll even give them a free CarFlox report. (“Get sheared with CarFlox.”) How fortunate the a good used car isn’t harmed by being in a flood if it’s not under water for more than a day.
Shame on Julie for teasing the readership this way. There’s Burl under a car. We know his gut won’t fit under a car, so he obviously has a jack or some other conglomeration of stuff holding the rear end up. But, hope as we might, even though Burl will have misused the jack, the thing won’t give way and crush him like a bug. But I wonder if we can get Jerry to slide under there for a peek.
…..or swapping out the entire exhaust system or replacing the universal joints or putting on new McPherson struts or draining and refilling the differential case or installing a new gas filter………or…or….OR!!!…..anything beats ‘fessing up that he hasn’t a clue to what he thinks he’s doing under there!! Just keep making extra room out in the driveway for more discarded parts that he won’t have any idea how to put back together once he finally admits that he’s been stumped since about 2 minutes under there!!

Do you guys actually think Burl knows how to put any of those parts back?
I see yet another trip to their friendly used car dealer…. the one who finds them such great financing every time….in their immediate future.
Of course it won’t be his fault….those parts were just badly made, and they won’t fit together correctly… right Joy?

Burl’s lying under the middle of the car and that looks like the carburetor beside him. Somebody stop the fool before you have to buy a new car!

And once again another reason for Joy to love and admire ,and brag about him more….

Some parts were already on the floor from the previous cars.

I think I bought one of them.

Looks like he’s changing the oil in the differential instead of the crankcase. But why did he have to remove the air filter? Oh. Right. It’s Burl.

Yep, Burl knows how to do everything backasswards, Motor in front, oil pan in front, etc.
