Am I the only one who likes cranberry sauce? I’ll probably be banned for life, but here is one of my deep, horrible secrets: I mix leftover sauce with apple slices and turn the result into a pie.
I was the kid who liked the red-tinged apple rings that restaurants used to serve as a garnish (60s? 70s?). In fact, our local favorite place knew to serve me a side dish of ‘red rings’ along with my meal, even when I got into my teen years. Much better than the parsley or lemon wedges or (ick!) kale. Tried kale – no like. But back to the topic at hand, we only had the gelatinous blob from a can and mom always wondered why no one ate it, but we had to have it every year – “it’s TRADITIONAL!” Feh, give me the red-dyed apple rings. Much tastier.

I like an actual SAUCE of CRANBERRIES — but I have no idea what that weird maroon gelatinous blob in a can is.

Honestly, how can these remotely be considered the same food:

Maybe they should make a toy that contains fake cranberry sauce just so kids can pack and pour it over and over.
