Good morning, Vagabonds. I survived the trip to Can Cun. Then the Immigration, followed by getting my luggage and then Customs. Then I changed money and bought a bus ticket to Merida. There was a 10 minute walk to the bus stop and, since we weren’t allowed to continue beyond a certain point with our luggage carts, I had the idea of using my rolater to carry my check-in bag and the bag I had stored above me in the plane (I bought my DVD player as well as my laptop as well as enough clothes for the tropics so I won’t have to do laundry as well as gifts for friends.

The 4 hour bus ride was exhausting but I saw the latest version of “The Taking of Pelham 1,2,3>” Then a taxi to my hotel and after a 4-hour nap, I hung my clothes up.

    Good afternoon, Vagabonds.

Arye, I didn’t like the Travolta version of Pelham nearly as much as the 1974 one. How can you beat a cast including Robert Shaw (in Travolta’s role), Martin Balsam, Jerry Stiller, Walter Matthau, Hector Elizondo and a host of beloved character actors including “Wilson” from Home Improvement, Earl Hindman.

I went to the funeral of a friend’s brother this morning at the Veteran’s cemetery in Boulder City. It was the first military funeral I have ever attended. Very nicely done. The deceased was Catholic, and my friend (his sister) goes to my church, so it was a mix of catholic ritual and a Calvary Chapel message. I am sorry to say it, but some of the Catholics were extremely rude during Pastor Tim’s message. There were several people in the gathering that made rude and snide remarks about him speaking at a “Catholic” funeral.
