At least you don’t have to drive 30 miles a day going from one school to another. That’s what they did to our “music department.” Kids were lucky to get 45 minutes of instruction per week, music teacher was lucky to get a 15-minute break between schools.
Some parents see pro sports players making lots of money. They want to see their kids making lots of money. For them. Because making their own lots of money is work.
Wow, hearing things like this makes me grateful to have gone to high school back in the ‘70s. We had all sorts of shop classes (wood, metal, plastic, auto), a variety of bands for the musically inclined (marching, jazz, orchestral), a theater-sized auditorium with all sorts of lighting and scenery equipment for drama classes, and a bunch of other stuff. The stuff I learned in the shop classes has been the most useful in my life, since I’ve always been a “fixer”.
