Michael almost broke something already when he asked: his mother’s gasket.

    Lynn’s Notes:

An actual quote from my son — he always offered to help if it was something he enjoyed.

Neither of my grandfathers could fix things. But they could exist well with lots of unfixed things.

If I had said something like that within my grandfather’s hearing, the results would have been worth a few panels of cartoons. Grandpa would have told me to come with him. In the garage we would have made something with what we could find. I miss his workshop, the door was always open to creative minds, willing hands, and learning spirits. I have many treasures that came out of that workshop.

She should suggest her father go fix things at his house. Seems that they have been visting for a long time

My Dad was a great handyman and carpenter and every time he and my Mom would visit my brother and his family, they would have something for him to fix or build for them. Strangely, it was my MOM who objected to this, my Dad was just happy to have something to do like the granddad in the strip.

Both of my grandfathers were the “handy” type as was my dad. All three of them had extensive workshops full of tools, parts and do-dads. I loved spending time with each of them out in the workshops. I did that a lot more than either of my brothers.

My dad would do this whenever he visited my sister and her family. Drove my brother-in-law bonkers!

    Tempting, but … nah.

    Made me laugh, though.
