Are there cartoon historians? When I see a cartoon cliché I always wonder, who drew the first one, before it was a cliché? In addition to the castaways on a small island with a single palm tree, there is the man crawling across the desert and, my favorite, the robed prophet with the “end is near” sign.
I hear they are going to elect a mayor.

About the only thing missing is the lampshade.
