Lucy told Linus once that leaves fly south for the winter: When Charlie Brown objected, Lucy told him, “When you look at a map, north is up and south is down, isn’t it? Leaves fly south for the winter.”
It’s not a stupid question at all. Knowing the difference between deciduous and evergreen is important for understanding the various ecosystems of the earth in which those trees and shrubs are found. Lucy only wants to belittle her little brother. There are too many people like her in the world. Understanding the difference between Lucy and Linus is important for understanding social systems in the world.
Kinda like the phrase..“Hot enough for ya?” As I mumble a few curse words under my breath..Dad used to ask “Do you want your butt whipped?”..I wanted to say “Sure..its been awhile since I got a good butt whipping!”….stupid questions..
When I was in elementary school, my teacher accused me many times of asking a “stupid” question. It was years later before I realized that to her, “stupid:” questions were the ones that she didn’t know the answer to, and was too lazy to find out. There were a lot of them.

The trees let in more light without leaves. .Also, the shadows from the full moon through the trees on a meadow of snow are so pretty—winter lace.

Wish some of my biology students had that much interest in how plants worked.

If the deciduous trees in Boston all had their leaves right now they’d be going out on a limb.
