Carnegie Mall? How cute. And no loitering in the conversation area. Can’t have those seniors hanging around in one place too long; they tend to go to sleep or pee on themselves. Bad for bidness, already drove Sharper Image out.
What I noticed is that Julie got it spot on when she had Timmy say, ‘I need a dollar for the toy vending machine.’ Back when I was a kid we would ASK ‘pretty please’ for a penny or (if we were really brave, a nickel!), but nowadays kids always ‘need’ this stuff. No asking, mind. Demanding. Gimme. I NEED it. Right NOW! And nine times out of ten if the parent doesn’t cave, the little darling will throw a wobbler right in the store. Yeah, Timmy, you need a dollar for the toy vending machine. Just like I need a polo pony, a luxury yacht and a fleet of Rolls Royces.
That must be one dumpy Mall, closed stores all over I suspect, K-B toys has been gone for 5 or 6 years.
what Dale does not wants to admit is he does not have a dollar, the vending machine would have to take credit card so he could pay it off over a few months.
Yeh, THAT’S cuz he "used to trudge diligently to school through raging blizzards for 50 miles (one way!!) with 100 lbs. of schoolbooks in his backpack! Even in summer!!! Children of “this” generation need, by cracky, to honor that gone-but-not-forgotten gung-ho spirit by piously denying themselves the occasional cheap toy, and turning the $ smilingly over to the various and sundry starving waifs of Asias major AND minor…..or something like that…….hey, did a number on my conscience, back in the day!! But THAT, as once was quoted in a “Hoppity Hooper” (Jay Ward-Bill Scott) episode, “was a looooooong time ago!!”

The ones in our Grocery are only .75. It takes Dale all day to collect enough cans for a dollar.
