When we were rotating back from Germany the MP they assigned to watch the packers & make sure we weren’t trying to smuggle anything illegal back to the states had never seen an 8-track! We were the same age. The 8-tracks were mine. I only had a few. In fact the only one I remember its name is “Pieces of Eight” by Styx.

Cosmo goes way back. I think the original back story was that he had a degree in dirigible engineering from Rutgers.

Well, kids, I do remember 8 tracks, but from college faculty days. Even owned a car with an 8-track built in. But one of my room mates in my student days had one of the best early stereo LP systems, with the demo LPs that let you hear a freight train go through the room.

Don’t forget a minifridge (or Coleman cooler, at least) for the beer. This IS college we’re talking aboout here.

And I still have a portable 8-track player with about 50 tapes that haven’t snapped on me when the program clicks from 2 to 3.

Wait! What about a CB radio? How do you expect your kid to communicate with everybody…

The problem with old 8-tracks is that the splice connecting the end of the tape to the beginning that allows them to play continuously usually dries out and lets go resulting in a mess of crumpled tape.
