I enjoyed all the movies. Sure I would have made different choices. I’d have preferred just using Bolg instead of dragging Azog back from the dead. And then doing the old shlasher film “still not dead” surprise schtick. I suspect that in time people will calm down and see them differently. Right now they’re still seen through the lens of expectation- and that invites harsher judgement.
The time element here is untenable.10 times, travel to and from. 474mins according to wiki, plus travel, etc. Around 79hours,of run time. Sorry,i’m a tad geeky. But poor in maths.:) Peace.Jus suis Charlie
my husband and I were prepared for SOME difference between the book and first movie. But we didn’t make it through the first 45 minutes. Never watched the rest or the other sequels.
Well yeah- the appendices couldn’t really be filmed on their own without it looking like a documentary. Still unfilmed are all the events that occur between the stories- including Gollum leaving his cave to seek the ring, and Gandalf and Aragorn in turn seeking Gollum. SOme of these events were the basis of the fan film THE HUNT FOR GOLLUM.

I thought it was great, but then again, I only saw it once.

Between reading it several times and seeing the different versions, I just can’t get excited about the new one. Wish they had made it first.

The new movie made me wonder if the producer/director/etc have ever read the book?

Unless they fall within the materials that Tolkien did not sell the movie rights to.
