Thing with board games growing up is that they were only ever brought out when it was raining outside and we were too bored to do anything else.
Hence the term, Bored Games.
Having watched Wil Wheaton’ web series TableTop on GeekandSundry.com it’s revitalised my interest and demonstrated what board games were actually for. Rule structure, positive communication, dealing with adversity and loss.
Monopoly isn’t a childrens game, but Clue in a group of three or more is perfect as it involves thinking and luck.
I miss board games. My Father played them with us on Sunday afternoon. As We got older, he taught us card games. My only regret is I left home before I learned Poker.
Interesting comic today because I have a “Corvette Edition” Monopoly game on the coffee table in front of me. The metal playing pieces, Corvettes, Chevy bow tie, etc., are made of pewter…

Funny that a monopoly game is featured in today’s “Sally Forth” comic. Maybe it’s an anniversary for that game or something?

We played Muggins … I am not sure where the game came from but Momma taught it to us and she was English?
