I wonder if seeing Santa fling Flip gave any kids second thoughts about sitting on his lap.
Somewhere, I have a clipping from a New Jersey paper, on Christmas Day, with an obit of a man whose name had been legally changed to Santa C. Claus, and the photo of him was in full Santa regalia. I suggested that parents could show it to their kids as an excuse for no presents. “Sorry, Billy. He’s dead.”
Running it (headline: SANTA C CLAUS SUCCUMBS) that way always struck me as a less than stellar idea.

It’s interesting to see the old presentation of Santa pre-Coca-Cola. It was the Coke ads that popularized the image we use today…
