Why is that chair so oversized?

Hmmm, I don’t think you are making points Nelson.

Once you outlive everyone you don’t have to be nice anymore.

That’s what I was told when I was young. But now I believe that respect must be earned.

I think if Earl gets off the chair, Nelson’s going to fly.

Grog, I believe that too.

Do you really think that Earl would voluntarily get off a chair? Besides, I’m sure the chair weighs much more than does Nelson, so there’s no danger of him going flying. It’s not a see-saw…

I like the way they’re sharing the chair - done it with my kids before. It shows that Earl will move around more for Nelson than pretty much anything else.

And Nelson makes a valid point. While it’s good to respect one’s elders, there is something more to respect than mere age.

My mom says that at her age she just doesn’t “give a rat’s a$$”.

My Dad always told me to sit in the chair the way you’re supposed to. THAT is NOT the way you’re supposed to sit in a chair.

Once your older than DIRT… You need not respect anybody.

I’ve tried to teach my children to treat everyone with respect, because God made them. However, we don’t have to admire people who live contrary to our values.

Respect the elders because they grow old and become more wise!
