If Earl and Opal are Nelson’s maternal grandparents, then I wonder what his paternal grandparents are like.
I used to have fun with my maternal grandparents (Clarence 1911-2007, Jewel 1917-2008) until they aged more and their deaths. Nothing like Six Flags, though. Some carpentry, rifle shooting, hiking, etc.
As for my paternal grandparents (Harley 1904-1982, Ardith 1907-1971), never even knew them before my parents’ marriage and my older brother’s birth.
Stop, Stop, Stop, Earl and Opal! you’re giving the Grandparents of today a bad name! Brian Crane should read Stone Soup, that Granny has a younger boyfriend and volunteering in poverty countries with Habitat for Humanity! I wouldn’t want him to copy another strip, but please! I’m waiting with baited breath that something fun will actually happen!

Try belly button lint picking, that is a hobby that requires a lot of patience and skill.

Fun is in the eye of the beholder. In this case Opal and Earl. Senior fun vs kid fun. Nelson needs friends of hisown age to play with.

Another laughs, again! X-D Earl, quit pulling the buzz-balls from your sweater.

can’t they take him to six flags and let him have fun while they sit on a bench and knit and pick fuzz balls?
