Well, maybe he didn’t sell it quite that many times, but he wasn’t the only one. There is a New York Times article describing many who sold the bridge.

Furrther to I just wrote, I’ve just learned that George C. Parker sold the Brooklyn Bridge at least twice a week for 30 years before he was caught.
