Mom: Well, the pain meds so say you can take them every four hours... Mom:... I just don't want to make you a drug addict while you heal. Heart: Mom....I made it through gym class, dodge ball and square dancing.... I can keep the monkey off my back.
I remember after having four completely impacted wisdom teeth out, I had to argue with my mom to get enough pain meds. “If I can have two every four hours, I can have one every two hours. I may be in pain, but I can still do math!”
she has a point, and oddly enough it is up to mom to listen, esp since everyone’s pain level is different. i had mine out & didnt need the pain pills after the first few days,,but my sis needed them for a week or more. and neither of us ended up as addicts. an with as strong willed as they both are i really doubt either would become addicted or let the other become one either.
I’ve been on pain meds for four month periods several times, and several times for shorter periods. You need them when pins are screwed into your bones, sticking out through your skin. Especially after the first time I knew what it was going to be like when I stopped taking them. It didn’t stop me from taking them, and I never stopped because I didn’t have any more, I stopped when I didn’t need them.
