Who the whomp is that?!? Tyr’s main squeeze? My knowledge of Norse/Germanic mythology begins and ends with The Mighty Thor and I don’t feel like doing some Google-fu.

Just read yesterday’s strip. Nevermind.

That’s no woman, that’s his wife!

In Greek mythology the giants were said to have piled Mount Olympus and Mount Ossa onto Mount Pelion in an attempt to reach heaven so that they could destroy the gods. I think that was the origin of Tyr’s wife.

Sheik, the giants piled Pelion on Ossa in order to reach Olympus’ peak, where the gods lived.

Tyr and Bruda are not only married, they have a child who has been seen in Ink Pen (can’t recall how long ago). I forget his name, but he takes after his mother in size, and Bruda once fobbed off his care onto her absentee husband.

Behind every great man is a woman, who can kick bleeeep.

Woman is well-toe-ned.

Norse gods often married giants, or sometimes the giants tried to get gods to marry, but it was seldom a happy marriage for any of them. I’m not sure how the size difference was explained, but I seem to recall that giants could shrink themselves by magic or something
