Did you ever think that 96 bags of tourist waste could be worth millions of dollars if only you could retrieve them?I have to wonder if any of the bacteria in them is still alive, and if it had mutated to weird and dangerous forms before going dormant for lack of heat and sustenance. The world won’t be truly civilized until people are wearing short pants on the moon.
Nail clippers? How much space and weight can they have been worth? But ours not to reason why, ours but to trash the lunarscape, thus insuring that the BEMs will destroy our scummy planet! It’s all your fault, litterbug astronauts!
Quite a lot was left behind, aside from the obvious (LM descent stages, lunar rovers and scientific instruments). Before leaving the moon, the astronauts in the LM tossed out their PLSSs (the backpacks), used boots and gloves, extra bits of hardware that were no longer needed (there were lightweight shelves used to hold some equipment) and anything else not needed for the return to orbit. It balanced out the weight of the lunar samples and increased the safety margin on the amount of propellant in the Ascent Module.
Wouldn’t a lot of that stuff have floated out in to space due to not much gravity on the moon? Or did they weigh everything down? We’ve nearly trashed the Earth and now we’re trashing everywhere else.

They left a red Bible? Should be good reading for future inhabitances.

Or at least have patch pockets tattooed on their moons.

I think the feces and urine are my favorites. There would be living bacteria there. We may have seeded the moon with life.

That’s a good illustration of feces and urine. I like it. I like it a lot.
