Interesting. I know Utah does firing squad due to the religious history there of blood atonement. Is the other state also one w a strong LDS history such as Idaho? I will have to look up this topic. (Strange things one picks up…). Hanging can be especially brutal when done wrong. Gads. Horrid topic but i guess it is one we have to face to be informed.

I’m gone. This is not entertaining or uplifting, or enlightening anymore. My and my family members’ daily lives have enough sadness, social injustice and not-nice crap going on that we have to live through every day, that we don’t want to have to be reminded of every minute of our waking lives, too…even when we’re reading the comics. Goodbye.
It’s OK to bring up serious topics in the comics, but it’s challenging. You have to funnier than usual to make it work, and even then the people who disagree with you will not be happy.
By the way, friends, the editor describes this feature as “a deft blend of goofy humor and political insight,” so if you don’t want any politics in your comics, this probably isn’t the place for you.
One state is looking at nitrogen gas; that’s a better alternative than the traditional gas, which is visible: the prisoner is strapped in a chair watching the gas creep up his body. No torture there!Of course, any man’s death diminishes me; and enough convictions are false that I am opposed to the death penalty at all.
… and how refreshing not to see any wingnuts piling on their rage that there is anyone who doesn’t wholehearted support the death penalty. They usually come out in droves to condemn this kind of statement. Wonder where they are? Oh, yeah. The wingnuts probably don’t read The Knight Life.
All honorable opinions and statements. It’s too bad that execution doesn’t save the public money versus life imprisonment, also too bad we have had debacles like the Cook County false confessions beaten out of innocent, of that specific crime, people. I do know if I or a member of my family were a victim of a violent murder, I would rather the perp be executed rather than imprisoned. This is my personal choice and yes it has to do with revenge. Another problem is the insanity defense, do we really think you can be sane and take the life of another human? Also the state of mental health care and Laws are in a very bad way. We can’t place insane people in an asylum because they have rights. What’s that you say, ‘they are fine when they take their meds’, but we have no laws to require and enforce the taking of those meds. Here in Florida we just had a example of how broken the system is. A certified schizophrenic who stopped taking his meds threw his 5 year old daughter off the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Tampa, Florida. The pendulum has swung to far to the insane people rights and away from protecting the public……………………………………………………………. http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/florida-dad-accused-throwing-child-bridge-found-incompetent-stand-trial-n303781

If I had to be executed I’d choose the firing squad. It’s quicker. To me, life in prison sounds worse than death.
