My mother often did this with my father. She would say about it that he had to take a rest before he went to sleep for the night. All he needed was to sit quietly for a couple minutes and he would nod off. He was a long-haul truck driver for almost 30 years before he retired and though he was sitting all that time he never nodded off while behind the steering wheel. So it always amazed everyone who knows him that he has always been able to nod off while just sitting anywhere except behind a steering wheel. Don’t know if he was ever in Poughkeepsie.
Had to google it. There’s a reality show that shows people buying houses? I can see how that would put you to sleep. I’d rather watch paint dry on This Old House.
I did this last night about 10 minutes into a show about the Colosseum and woke up to Tavis Smiley. Now I’ll never know the secrets of the Colosseum. Sigh.
@Retired Dude: actually that show was already over before it started. I just read an article where they explained that they only choose couples that have already bought a house and than they let them visit two other houses which sometimes aren’t even for sale!
Although I am a real estate agent, I almost never watch the show, but I’ve heard that (spoiler alert) they almost always buy the house that’s empty, because they’ve actually looked at the houses and made their decision before the show is shot, thus the transaction is under way and the sellers have moved out by the time filming begins.
Not to worry, Ed; it’ll be back around again and again and again. And actually, zachtrek, the knock on “House Hunters” is that the mark(s) actually bought a place before the producers got there, and the producers often use friends’ places for the throwaway options. As many times as my wife has forced me through that show, you can’t always tell from the emptiness of the house; in fact, many times they rearrange the deck chairs for the “after” shoot.

The majority of times you watch these shows, you never get closure.

Earl, there is an invention called DVR. Maybe the Pickles still have rabbit ears and only 4 channels.

Poughkeepsie!! I grew up just south of there in the 60’s. My compatriots and I would go up there for the best pizza.

They bought the one the wife wanted, Earl. They (nearly) always buy the one the wife wants.

Did they mean the city of Pokeeps, or the town? (I grew up in the town).

I once fell asleep in my bedroom when I had Family Guy on and I missed the first episode of the two they were showing.
At least I woke up in time to watch the last one.

House Hunters still beats watching the Kardashians. Or any of those other shows.

I am in Wappingers, the next town over. I never tried Wagon Wheel. We like Giacomos.
