Energy drinks, though liquid, seem to have the same main ingredient as the Maltese Falcon…ie, “the stuff dreams are made of.”
What’s really in the can? Hyperbole, hypnotic suggestion, old wives tales and caffeine… lots and lots of caffeine…. plus a mountain of plain old sugar.
One problem is that some of the caffeine isn’t added as a chemical, but comes from ingredients that contain it, like coffee, guarana, chocolate and yerba mate…and since the drinks aren’t FDA regulated as drugs, no analysis of total caffeine content is required on the label.
So sure, they hype you up… like drinking 2-4 cups of coffee and eating a couple of candy bars, all in 5 minutes….yet people who would never do that think it’s cool to consume the same thing from a cute skinny can.
To hand one to a child is completely irresponsible.

Some shops here won’t sell energy drinks to people under 18 (same as alcohol). It is not law, though.

They seem kinda pointless, in my opinion. Never had an energy drink, and hopefully never will.

My body has a limited tolerance for caffeine. I enjoy coffee and black tea, so I don’t bother with that cr#p.
