Andy: What are we listening to? Roger: It's a CD I picked up at that nature store. Some guy went out into the wild and recorded the ambient sounds of different environments. I remember some guy doing just that he lived with the wild bears. Then took his girlfriend with him. One of the bears too offence to this and it ended just like that the terrifying sound.

See this is why I love old FoxTrot. This is hilarious. I wish they would just run reruns in our paper instead of the really unfunny Sunday strip now. If Amend was going to retire, he should just do that and quit wasting my time.

Too bad he didn’t swallow the microphone too. I’m sure “Bear digesting sound technician” would make a nice, relaxing epilogue to the series!

I wonder if this strip originally ran before or after the unfortunate incident that Kab refers to. I had no sympathy for the nature lover whose child-like fondness for the bears probably kept him from realizing the danger he was in, but in any case, it was his choice. It’s the GF I feel sorry for. (Ladies, if you are having your “monthlies”, don’t go into the woods!)

@ pschearer,
True that. It sounds tacky and is not something most people would want to talk about, but the scent of the blood does lead to aggressiveness in bears.

“The really unfunny Sunday strip”? I realize that there’s no accounting for taste, but really, Alan Youngblood, I think you’re outnumbered by about a jillion to one. So it seems we’re all out of step but you.
