Psychiatrists are medical doctors. After medical school they do their residencies in psychiatry. In medical school, they do clinical rotations in internal medicine, obstetrics, pediatrics, etc. During medical school they have to take tests to pass various areas. They also have to take what’s called USMLE Step 1, USMLE Step 2 (USMLE CK and USMLE CS), and ultimately USMLE Step 3. All doctors take these lengthy tests before residency, except Step 3, which can be taken during residency.-Only medical doctors can prescribe drugs. Psychologists can’t because they’re not M.D.s or D.O.s

Any doctor can tell there’s something wrong with you, Burl….as can any neighbor, co-worker or acquaintance.
Those opinions are all free, but you probably don’t want to hear them.
