Transcript:
Tia Carmen: Baldo, I'm walking to the church... it's bingo night! Baldo: That's awesome, Tia Carmen! Baldo: Walking reduces the risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke and diabetes! Tia Carmen: Actually, I wanted you to walk there with me. Baldo: But that's like six blocks away!

Baldo, be a good example for your Tia.

Son, when I was your age, I walked a mile, in the snow, up hill both ways, to the bus stop. 6 blocks with your Tia won’t kill you.

I know, I posted this yesterday. But I want to be sure to get this in front of as many of you as possible before Thursday.
So here it goes again in case you missed it. I’m trying to get David Alverez of ‘Yenny’ too. Haven’t heard back from him as of yet.
In celebration of Baldo’s 10th Anniversary celebration, Hector and I are hosting a fan appreciation call. And you of course are all invited to attend.
The call will be Thursday April 29, 8:00 PM EST
Below is your video invitation (which my kids, as you might expect, found thoroughly embarrassing) http://BaldoComics.com/blog/call-in
You guys are a committed community here on gocomics.com and we appreciate you.
We would love to personally speak with each of you and have some fun come Thursday.

Carlos, this one and Yenny are on my comics favorite list. I would like to be on the call-in but I’ll be traveling. Enjoy, and congrats on 10 years of Baldo.

Baldo, you can always stop at the Bodega after seeing tia carmen ato the church, and buy yourself a red bull for the walk home.
Joe-Allen “Joe” DotyGenius_badge,
they do, if you have ever been to a RC Church at 6 AM there are dozens of them there every day for prayer and confession.

Joe, I’m sure the Roman Catholic Church would be vitally interested in your pronouncements about what they should and shouldn’t do. God knows the rest of us are!

You know, Fritzoid, I’m actually more interested in Joe’s opinions than I am in hearing someone tell me what I’m interested in.

a bit harsh fritzoid but accurate.

It’s like a half-hour’s walk from my house to the Salvation Army where I volunteer two to thrice weekly.
As for my own church when walking, I think a full hour.

Tia Carmen asks Baldo to walk her down to the church for Bingo Night, Why? Because Tia wants to make sure that she feels safe with Baldo from attacker, stalker and whatevers. Without Baldo, I am sure Tia will feel not safe and comfortable to walk down to the church in the evening for Bingo Night.

Just because they’re Hispanic is not guarantee that they’re Catholic. Protestantism is making big inroads in that particular demographic.

I think it’s pretty well established that Tia Carmen at least is an observant Catholic; she certainly loves her saints!

Carlos, I love this strip and would love to make that party, but – bummer – I work Thursday nights. Hope it’s a great do.
fritzoid Premium Member over 14 years ago
Well then, Joe, it’s pretty clear that Carmen doesn’t go to that sort of church, isn’t it?

cdward, sorry we won’t be able to speak to you live. We’ll record the call and make it available for anyone interested in hearing it.
I just got off the phone with my buddy David Alvarez, creator of the Yenny comic strip and he’ll be joining us on the call tomorrow from Puerto Rico.
