I want a congressman who is going to bring pork barrels to my state, not one who will stop pork barrel spending. The economy doesn’t run on people not spending money.
The majority of the budget is on automatic pilot.Cutting any spending is Draconian and oppressive.Base Line budgeting requires annual increases to the previous year’s budget by a percentage, usually 10% to 12%.If you have a calculator, try 1$ times 1.1^20, just for fun.Now imagine the 1$ equals 3 trillion. Welcome to 2035!
Ha ha ha! A 2 BILLION dollar surplus here in Minnesota, and some politicians think it should be returned to the taxpayers!.What surplus? It’s already spent…
@John SmithToo bad about that pesky Constitution thing, though, huh? Try replacing “voter” with “gun toter” and “voting booth” with “anyplace in public” and see how that rings your bell. Wait, what, you’re OK with that 2nd amendment gun thingy but not the rest of the document? How quaint.
The trouble is they can control their spending, but only when it comes to important things like schools and infrastructure. If only we could make that kind of spending as attractive as military spending.
