For the story, God explicitly gives us permission to eat edible animals, in the Bible, in a vision St.Petrus had with animails coming from Heavens with God’s voice motivating him to “slay and eat” because “all that comes from heaven is pure”. Now people not believing in God or the Bible is a different kettle of fish, but anyway…
A rat is not a pig, is not a dog, is not a boy. No matter what you think they look like at embryonic stages, there is no way biologically that any of those will develop into something that they are not. A rat is, and always will be, a rat, not a pig; a pig is, and always will be, a pig, not a dog; a dog is, and always will be, a dog, not a boy; a boy is, and always will be, a boy, not any other life form.
