The monster under the bed and the moanster on the bed.

Poor Calvin: I hate it when I get creeped out about stuff. Daylight’s bad enough, but after dark… Geesch!!

I’m 70 and I still get spooked sometimes. I won’t watch the movie “The Grudge” at night. I usually have to get up in the middle of the night. The house is dark. Is that something behind the shower curtain? Or down the hall?

The monsters’ words look like they are “dripping.” Notice how the shadows on the edge of the bed have a similar scary appearance. Maybe these monsters are just a bunch of drips.Calvin needs his best friend with him:Click here (or stretch image below): Calvin and Hobbes (April 23, 1989)Snoopy and Charlie Brown sometimes had trouble sleeping at night. That’s because Charles Schulz sometimes would lie awake at night worrying:Click here: Peanuts (August 7, 1968)Click here: Peanuts (April 24, 1993)

It’s good to see you back, Hobbes! We’ve been suffering on a diet of only one strip per day….

The monsters won’t eat Calvin! They’re still stuffed with Easter candy…
Puddleglum2 almost 10 years ago
Maybe the monster who was named is Winslow Homer who was a landscape artist (painter). Calvin might need to be an ’e’scape artist.
Puddleglum2 almost 10 years ago
@LX013,Maybe the monsters will want to escape when they “get wind of it”.

Have you tried throwing him/them a Snickers?

@CougarAllen: A diet of only one comic strip per day? Well, at least Bill Watterson provides food for thought. Today I posted a few extras for readers to devour. Actually, I’m the opposite of Bill Watterson. I post reruns when I’m not on sabbatical.

Your tiger should be able to protect you.

Calvin should just tell him Lio’s house is two doors down. They’ll throw him a party.

Does anyone know what year this strip ran or what book this strip came from? The past few days I don’t recall ever reading these strips. I have all the paperback books and I can’t seem to find the recent ones.
Hobbes Premium Member almost 10 years ago
Hi Marie. We are in 1995, the final year of Calvin and Hobbes, reading the strips 20 years and 3 days after they were published. So today’s strip is from April 3rd, 1995. You can find it in the paperback book There’s Treasure Everywhere, on page 173. You can find the strips from the past two weeks in the paperback book It’s a Magical World, on pages 6 through 11.

the ones under the bed always lie. They are the distraction for the ones in the closet.
