My Basset was the same way. She wouldn’t go outside if there were lightening, Thunder, Fire Works even if you used a leash. As soon as Armageddon was over she was fine.
A few years ago I awoke at 4 AM because of a storm.[]I found my brave, macho tomcat curled up at my feet.
I hate thunder too!
