Iā€™ll match your literalness, Joe. ā€œcubicalā€ is an adjective, not a noun. ā€œcubicleā€ is a noun, not an adjective. Furthermore, ā€œcubicalā€ is derived from ā€œcubeā€, which is from Greek (ĪšĻ…Ī²ĪæĻ‚), whereas ā€œcubicleā€ is derived from Latin cubiculum ā€œbedroom,ā€ from cubare ā€œto lie downā€ or ā€œto curl upā€.

And itā€™s not cubical because the vertical dimention is clearly longer than the horizontal dimentions, making it a ā€œcuboid parallelepipedleā€.

The modern term ā€œcubicleā€ was applied to library carrels in 1926, making the cartoon accurate aside from misspellings.

    What a GREAT musical!

    I mean in StelBelā€™s fine posterā€¦

    for the May 5th, 2020 ā€œCleo and Companyā€ on Sherpaā€¦

    Ā

I hate to admit itā€¦ but I was around for the rise of the Four Hounds on the music sceneā€¦ of course, I was only twoā€¦

    LOL.

OK, not THAT youngā€¦ but adolescent.

I saw them on American Bandstandā€¦

along with a lot of other Italian singersā€¦ like Frankie Avalon, Fabian, and Bobby Rydell.

    Ā

But by the time I was a senior in high school, we had folk music, and then the ā€œEnglish invasionā€ā€¦

A fan of rock ā€™n roll, and various shaggy groups, I no longer cared for the pupsā€™ slick East Coast look and smooth sound.

In fact, my sisterā€™s name is Sherry, and I teased her with my bad imitation of Frankie Tailā€™s falsetto howl.

Later, I came to appreciate them, as enduring musical icons of the era.

    Ā

    Ohā€¦ good thing I refreshedā€¦

I was about to post this with a link to that same human posterā€¦

but I see Tigressy already found one, so I took mine out.

    Ā

    Humans! What copydogs!

Were they a real group, or just put together to make the play and movie?

    Wowā€¦. I wonder what they sound likeā€¦..

No human could possibly howl like Frankie Tail!

And of course, those plain suitsā€¦.

they just canā€™t match the Houndsā€™ slick, sparkly jackets.

    Ā

Dangā€¦ now Iā€™m gonna have ā€œBig Dogs Donā€™t Cryā€ on the brain all night.

BTWā€¦ you know what the original title was for that songā€¦ cos itā€™s about female dogs.

But some people actually censored it in reviews andā€¦ umā€¦ postersā€¦ so they changed it.

Dang! Iā€™m going to be singing all day long! I think I can bring out one of those sparklie spotlights, and theyā€™ll really light up my sparklie jacket. What a show! (Iā€™m also really glad we have no near-by neighbors to hear me!)

Good choice, Stel. Love the memories.
