Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
The last 24 hours were great. Lots of chatter for over 50 comments. I had fun. Letâs do it again?
LoneWolf, I would like to expound on my âadviceâ of last night with the piece I put on my CD in â02.
On the subject of geruatrics, like the song says, ainât nothing you can do about it. Time will have itâs way. One can get all the nips and tucks, tightening and enhancements, all the cosmetic surgery available. And you can go out in the yard and paint the old shed real prettyâŚ. But itâs still an old shed inside.
Have you watched the children? Four, five, six or seven years okd? Their world is so full of wonders that adults pass by, forgetting.A tiny flower, a pretty rock a sky full of of puffy cloud that look like,,,,, What did you see when you used to look up.
Life to so many becomes tunnel-vision. All they see is whatâs in front of them/ Any deviation from that is an interuption, an irritation.
We need to hold some of that wonder in our hearts. Check out what that child finds so ifascinating. Maybe a big black beetle crawling along that sticks his rear end up if heâs prodded with a twig.
Look up at the sky the children are looking at and ask what
they see. You just might see it,too, when itâs pointed out to you.
Watch the children and remember, you can be child-like without being childishâŚâŚ I am so glad my world is still full of wonders.
OK, hereâs the way I figure it. GoComics will either:
1 - Quit running Annie altogether
2 - Continue to run the final strip indefinitely, like they do Opus
3 - Start rerunning the classic Harold Gray strips
4 - Run the Leonard Starr strips
5 - Start over with the Jay Maeder strips
6 - Continue the story online as if nothing ever happened
I reread the announcement yesterday (in the daily cartoonist). It certainly suggests that Annie will continue in some incarnation, be it comic books or online. Iâm too lazy to go back today and cut and paste the exact quote, but something about it being too valuable to just stop.
Iâm hoping that means the online version will continue at least for a while. There are many strips out there that are online only (Pibgorn and Yenny on this site to name 2).
Iâm all for Option 6, but if they start reruns, Iâd rather see the Leonard Starr stuff. The man was absolutely incredible in his 19+ years of providing us with Annieâs adventures. Just donât want to see her disappear altogether as it would leave a huge hole in my life. What does everyone else feel here?
Lying there in a pose of death
Possibly having drawn his last breath
Time is swiftly running out
Theyâll get no help from this lout
A fallen camera, a picture there
Will further add to their despair
An infamous butcher they will see
Has taken Annie and did flee
To escape from a secret lair
Aided there by a dastardly pair
Who are vile and pernicious as can be
On this, I think that we can all agree
Poor Annie heading to her fate
Daddy and Sandy arrive to late
The ocean waves will leave no trace
About what is soon to take place.
38 POEMS!!!? That means I will need copious amounts of alcohol or other mind altering substances. Please send ASAP! To:

Send now, donât delay!
I think I agree with LittleRedDress. Iâd like to see the story continue, but if we go to re-runs, Iâd like to see the Leonard Starr material. That all happened at a time in my life when I was so busy with so much reeeealy important stuff that I rarely looked at the comics, so I missed nearly the whole period.
Still hoping for the best, David, but if they reprint the Starr strips, youâre in for a treat. I have some of this collected, and the manâs writing style and artwork are closer to Harold Grayâs originals than anyone else has ever been able to manage. Not to slight Jay Maeder and Ted Slampyak, however. Meader has provided us with some great storylines and Slampyakâs work is better than Pepoy or Kupperberg. I especially like his eyes and facial expresseions, plus he draws Sandy very well also.
Once upon a time FlightSuit tapped me on the shoulder and saidâŚâŚâŚ.Câmere kid, Iâm gonna show you every dirty, filthy, low down, underhanded, sneaky trick there is about puters.
He then showed me that you can right click on an avatar, click on properties, and it will show you what the avatar is.
I donât know about wisdom, but experience has given me a three part phrase for survival: Take your time. Watch where you put your feet. And always give the other person sufficient
space. These can be used in most situations.
VBill, your avatar is a good example as it shows what you have it named on your âputer files.
I had to read those last comments about three times before it got through to my brain. Donât speak âputer very well, I still go a lot by trial and errors.

From the âNotebooks of Lazarus Longâ as recorded by one Robert A. Heinlein.
Experience is an excellent teacher, but not everyonr gets a passing grade.
All some people learn from experience is that theyâve just made another mistake.
Wisdom is not a prerogative of age, nor is foolishness one of youth.

VBill, your avatar is a good example as it doesnât state the name in the info line. It has whatever it is named on your âputer.
