Not quite seeing the spousal abuse thing. 1.They are kids. Lucy is talking about Sluggo’s name, kids hit each other, it’s part of being a kid. She also might be talking about his reputation, all she is saying is “You can do better”. 2. It’s a cartoon. I highly doubt the author of this strip would intentionally make light of something as serious and despicable as punching one’s mate. I’m sure Bliss has his standards.

I think Bliss did a nice job of capturing the style of two very different artists. Drawing Peanuts characters is tricky!
